OUR BACKGROUND
AlfredHouse Eldercare was founded in May, 1992.

It was prompted by an ABC News Prime Time Live
report decrying the state of the elderly in "care-giving" facilities.
Its inspiration, quite simply, came from the founder's fond memories
of falling asleep in the lap of a very dear grandmother. How could you
not love her? and respect her? and care for her?
Our philosophy of care at ALFREDHOUSE is driven by
Dr. Alfred's experience, educational background and above all, the
culture of the orient, which respects age and treats the elderly with
dignity. It is these values of love and respect for the elderly which
is manifested in the visible affection shared between staff and
residents that distinguish AlfredHouse from its competition.
In keeping with its philosophy, ALFREDHOUSE
provides an array of personalized services for the elderly in a
home-like environment. The community appreciates the service
AlfredHouse is providing and has been very encouraging. In 16+ years
AlfredHouse rapidly grew to 8 facilities, all located within a two to
five mile radius of Leisure World in Montgomery County, Maryland.
Dr. Alfred, who served on the Maryland Governor's
Advisory Board on Aging, attributes this success to her staff who, she
says, have done a marvelous job of translating her vision for
providing a clean, warm home environment where every resident is cared
for professionally, with compassion and love, and most importantly,
with DIGNITY.
It is also mentioned with pride that Dr. Alfred's involvement and
efforts in the field of geriatrics and dementia care has earned her a
US Patent for an "Activity Suit" designed specifically for memory
impaired residents. The Activity Suit is now being marketed under the
CareWear Fashion Brand.
